Development Description:
for weir repairs and the replacement of the damaged walkway at Meelick Weir on the River Shannon, in the townland of Keeloge, County Galway. The works shall consist of the construction of a new steel walkway approximately 300m long to replace the existing structure that was badly damaged as the result of flooding. The existing plant house will be relocated to allow a new ramped access to be constructed for public use of the walkway. Masonry repairs shall be made to the original weir structure and the weir boards will be replaced with new tilting weirs to improve the safety of their operation. An Environmental Impact Statement and a Natura Impact Statement have also been prepared in respect of the proposed works and submitted with the application. (Gross floor space of proposed works: 14 sqm.)
