This application for permission provides for a total increase of 130m2 in floor area in the ballroom and pre-function areas; an increase in height (of approximately 0.49m) for the rooftop ballroom and plant screening; increased plant area on the roof of the ballroom back of house area; additional concealed rooftop plant to the west stairwell; lead clad plant screening to west link elevation; a new opening in a stone wall to facilitate operational access to the ballroom; a new opening in the basement of the Bolton library to allow access to an external yard; relocation of 2 no. windows from the east bedroom block elevation to the north; modification of a gable roof to a hipped roof on the new bedroom block; change of use of a dressing room to an office in the Bishop’s Palace; change of use of a kitchen building to a plantroom and store and amendments to ancillary works. The development for which permission is sought comprises of the following works to the protected structure of Cashel Palace Hotel 1. Removal of link to attic level of bedroom block at east side of the bishop’s Palace & associated reduction in height of permitted link building 2.
