It is proposed to excavate the material present in two mounds (2.0 ha and 1.1 ha in size) down to the surrounding ground level giving a uniform surface profile to the entire Simonstown Borrow area. This will yield an approximate volume of 110,000m3 of material. Excavation of this material will be undertaken using a mechanical excavator and transported by dump truck for use in the construction of the tailings facility embankment raise. No materials excavated will be transported on public roads. No additional drainage, beyond that provided by the existing field drainage system will be required
